Greetings Birch Lane Families,
Happy Week 25 of the 2022-2023 school year. I have a number of updates below!

Polar Pedal Power:
Birch Lane has logged in 882 scans so far in February. We have TWO more Polar Pedal DAYS left in February. Let’s encourage our students to bike+walk+roll into school and have extra fun next week.
GREAT NEWS! Collectively, the eight participating DJUSD elementary schools have adopted 14 Polar Bears, logging in 7,285 Active4me scanned trips as of Friday!
Intent to Return:
Davis Joint Unified School District strives to make the best possible educational placements for
all students. School staffing at our elementary schools is based on the number of elementary students intending to return for the next school year.
All current DJUSD students in grades Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade must have a legal parent/guardian complete the “Intent to Return” process online. To complete this, log into the DJUSD Parent Portal (https://parentportal.djusd.net) and follow the simple instructions below. If you forgot your pin and password, you may select “Forgot your PIN?” or “Forgot Your Password?” links on the ParentPortal login page.
We ask that you complete this process for each child currently enrolled in TK-5th grades no later than Friday, March 24, 2023.

March 2nd: Variety Show Informational Meeting 2:40-2:55pm (K-3), 3:05-3:20pm (4-6)
We have fantastic news! The BLE Variety Show is coming back after a three-year break due to COVID. In the past, students have danced, sang, acted out skits, demonstrated Karate skills, and shared gymnastics routines among other acts. If your student is interested in participating, look for permission slips going home soon. All the important details and dates are included in the permission slip.
We also have an optional information meeting on Thursday, March 2nd in the old MPR (2:40 for K-3 or 3:15 for 4-6). Join us! We are anticipating a wonderful show!

March 12th: Daylight Savings Time Starts (Spring your clocks ahead by one hour)
MPAC + PTA MakIt Art Fundraiser Sunday, March 12, 2-4pm, Birch Lane's Old MPR
Turn your child's art into gifts for yourselves or for others! Dads, grads, moms, or anyone special in your life. Complete your outdoor dining set with some artistic melamine plates, bowls, platters or tumblers! There are also placemats. Prices and details to come next week, including the art templates and instructions. Proceeds will be evenly split between MPAC and PTA.
Make-A-Gift Art Party
MakIt templates and drawing supplies will be provided. Bring your friends and come draw with us (on your template or not!) on a Sunday afternoon in the old MPR. You can submit your template and payment right then and there, or do it later.
March 20-March 25th: Optional Parent Conference Week/Spring Book Fair/1:30pm release for all students 1-6th. Regular schedule for Kindergarten students.
March 27-March 31st: Spring Break: No School
