Principal's Message Greetings Birch Lane Families,

Happy Week 28 of the 2022-2023 school year.

As we prepare to wrap up the Winter Trimester, I wanted to say thank you to all of our families, for continuing to show up every day for your students, our staff, and our Birch Lane Community. We see and interact with so many of you every day, and I apologize for not having the time to just say with all of my heart how much we appreciate you supporting our staff and students. From the classroom, to the gardens, to MPAC meetings, PTA meetings, Site Council meetings, Scarecrow Festival, Eagle Run, Literacy Night, Science Night, the upcoming Auction/Carnival-we see you, and appreciate the time and effort that you put into our students! On that note-please save the date for our Volunteer Appreciation Tea on May 17th from 1:30pm-2pm in the Birch Lane Quad.

Illness Reminder

Please keep students with symptoms of illness at home, even if they test negative for COVID, and report the absence to the Birch Lane office. Check out this flyer (Spanish) for information on specific symptoms. Thank you helping to keep our Birch Lane community safe and healthy!
Our Spirit Wear sales closed on 3/10. There is usually about a three week turn around time. We will deliver all Spirit wear to your student’s classroom.

Mon 3/20 -- Fri 3/24. We will be open before school 8-8:30am, during lunch recess 12-1pm, and after school until 4pm. Wed 3/22 we will be open until 6pm. Fri 3/24 we will close at 3pm. The library is grateful for your support! Books fairs are our main way of funding new books and reading initiatives (like the upcoming Battle of the Books!). Intent to Return:

Davis Joint Unified School District strives to make the best possible educational placements for
all students. School staffing at our elementary schools is based on the number of elementary students intending to return for the next school year.

All current DJUSD students in grades Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade must have a legal parent/guardian complete the “Intent to Return” process online. To complete this, log into the DJUSD Parent Portal (https://parentportal.djusd.net) and follow the simple instructions below. If you forgot your pin and password, you may select “Forgot your PIN?” or “Forgot Your Password?” links on the ParentPortal login page.

We ask that you complete this process for each child currently enrolled in TK-5th grades no later than Friday, March 24, 2023.

Upcoming Dates:

March 20-March 25th: Optional Parent Conference Week/Spring Book Fair/1:30pm release for all students 1-6th. Regular schedule for Kindergarten students.

Lamppost Pizza Montessori Family Fundraiser Tues 3/21

Lamppost will donate 30% of pick-up or dine-in (no delivery) pizza sales between the hours of 4-9pm. We encourage you to dine in, mingle, and get to know other families! That's what it's all about! Just be sure to mention Birch Lane Montessori when you order.

March 27-March 31st: Spring Break: No School
