Hello My Name Is...

April Fabionar

Hi! I am April, or Mrs. Fab! I have always loved children. I have been privileged to raise four children of my own, but as my own children have been growing into high school and college, I have been thrilled to use my college background in Early Childhood Education to lead elementary classes of my own. I have enjoyed serving in elementary classrooms over the last 15 years, first as a parent volunteer, then as a Kindergarten aide, and over the last 7 years, as a classroom teacher in TK, Kinder, & First Grades. At Birch Lane, I am pleased to be part of a dedicated and caring community of teachers and staff, in a beautiful natural space, where children are nurtured to grow as friends and as scholars, with opportunities to play active games together, garden, and visit with our school chickens. I am honored to introduce a new generation of little ones to the wonders of reading and discovery. I believe in learning through questioning and hands-on experimentation—and good fun! As a passionate reader, my favorite subject to teach is beginning reading. My goal is to inspire students with a life-long love for reading, thinking, questioning, and learning. I love meeting new students and recognizing how each and every child is special in their own unique way!

P.S. In answer to the all-important questions in first grade: my favorite color is blue, and my favorite animals are horses and cats. Outside of school, in addition to reading, I also enjoy gardening, hiking, camping, paddle-boarding, bicycling, horseback riding, crafting, and crocheting :)
